Saddest Pyrex I've Ever Seen...

... Not that that's saying much. I went to a new-to-me thrift store today, and although they had lots of bake ware, I didn't see any Pyrex. That is, until I laid my eyes on this sorry specimen:

With lid! Even though the rest of the store was VERY well priced, this guy had a $2 price tag on him! I take back what I said in my last post. I DO care SOMEWHAT about what condition the pieces are in.

What do you think happened to this guy? Dishwasher?

  1. I LOVE THESE! Call me crazy, but these DBD (death by dishwasher) are my FAVORITE!
They show that they were used and loved. you will not find another one out there with the same wear to it. Its 1 of a kind. UNIQUE!

Dont get me wrong, I have mint pieces and I have slightly worn pieces, but these....these are my everyday use.

    I love'em.

  3. Oh Yeah! Dishwasher torture! It's so sad...

It might show that the pieces were used, but I feel it shows great disrespect as well.

  4. Believe it or not, I'm on the lookout right now for a set of mixing bowls that have been dishwasher abused. I won't put the pieces I already have in the dishwasher, but if I can get a set that somebody else has ruined, I'll use them and happily put them in the dishwasher myself.

  5. Sad! DBD makes me laugh and cry at the same time. However I could understand having one and not feeling bad about cleaning it in the dishwasher. Still part of the joy of using Pyrex is the patterns so these don't appeal to me.

  6. @AmyC or Missouri Michael - Ha, do you want me to go back and get it for you?

@Everyone else - I am just afraid someone put it in the dishwasher w/o knowing what would happen to the piece and then was horrified when their wash was done!

  7. If you'd pay for the item & shipping I'd have no problem sending it your way! (Assuming it is still there.)

    Let me know!

  8. I'll recap:
    -Pyrex good
    -Dishwashers bad
    - sad dish that looks like a faded version of its former self
    - Cheeky thrift store has the nerve to charge three bucks
    - butt ugly but still useful
    - cage match between Colleen and Missouri Michael to see who gets it

There. That's why I get paid the big bucks.

  9. Lol, I'll be happy to let Colleen have it. Although, if it were a set of mixing bowls...we might have a match!
